The stories behind the songs.

Feel free to refer back to the lyrics.

-I Still Cry-
This is a song about Michele Beckman, the girl who started it all. She basically perked my interest into the music and was the first great friend that I had. If I still knew her today Id hold her as close to me as I do in my heart. I ruined it though, I wasnt as good of a friend as she. This is a 100% deeply honest song, no sarcasm. Sometimes friendship, is the strongest form of love imaginable. Richs favorite line is I miss her electric smile and her acoustic touch, its may favorite too.

-Wont Give You A Reason-
I finally decided to get raw, and just tell you what I really think of myself. I may have many flaws like everyone else, but Im good to the people I date.... so dont lie to me and tell me Im gods gift to the world, but one thing that stands firm is I wont give you a reason to cry. That to me is more important than the perfect people whom hurt their lovers on a daily basis. I think one of the strongest lyrical songs on the album, and one of the most well thought musical schemes, it was completely scripted out the way it is. I was trying to go for a Joe Walsh slide guitar sound.

-Fragile Lil Heart-
Dont let the music fool you, its a really emotional song. I mean every word, it was written in the same mindset as Wont Give You A Reason, I was depressed, hurting, and lonely, and I wanted to write a how could you song.... this is it...also my first attempt at playing a harmonica. Most people really enjoy the line I told you I was strong, oops I lied This is another 100% honest song. Kudos to John for leveling the 3 different guitar parts to sound like one great guitar rhythm. This took like 20 tries to sing it correctly.

-What I Want-
I have to admit this is about a neighbor of mine. I had the hots for her for a long time, basically ever since I moved in. She was nice to me at first but then later never really gave me the time of day unfortunately. This is a song about desire and realizing you can be so close to something and yet so far away.... The song about what you think you want. You cant always get what you want and most of the time you dont really need it anyway. There is an alternate version to this other than whats on the Fragile album. A more rockin version with a double guitar solo, and a doubled vocal by yours truly. Itll be a Bside on a single.

-You Cant Imagine-
I wrote this about a high school crush of mine. Later I saw her after not seeing her for a few years. The song was written during a flashback and it was truly written from the heart. Later on I found out this girl didnt really care too much for me and was kind of rude to me, so the song keeps its meaning but I have a feeling theres a follow up song that will come to me. This is the original version of the song right after it was written but Joe and I went thru it and made some musical changes that make it a lot more interesting. You can hear it on the live album.

-The Rebel That You Are-
If you havent figured it out, Ive been considered a rebel for a long time. I think people base opinions on what they hear and see too much. This is my autobiography...it shows that Im a very emotional person inside, but people refuse to see it. you can overcome your pain making love out in the rain...all you feel is the beating of her heart. That line basically means, Im deep enough that it wasnt just sex to me, I felt every beat of her heart. Im proving my depth. This has always been a favorite for a misunderstood fellow like myself. On the live versions we tend to sing oos and ahhs during the instrumental break.

-Tryin To Break Me Down-
For all those girls who like to break hearts and then try to continually break down your former lover. Damn you! Hehe I wrote this in the mind set that my ex was out to hurt me even though we had broken up. She wanted to key my car, drive past my house, and bring her new man to my concerts to make me upset. This is my message to her and all the others who think like that. I dont stand for girls like you...trying to break me down! I know a lot of guys and girls can relate to this one... hats off to Joe for the amazing organ work! A better version of this song can be heard on the live album. However the sudden burst into rock during the solo part here was pretty f*ckin cool!

-Loving Moments-
I had a lot of help from my friends Amy Roller, Ang Halpine, & Cate Murray. They basically gave me ideas for the song and helped me change some things here and there. It was a request that I wrote something a little sexy. Ive never been too much of a sexy singer/writer but I think this song is a lyrical orgasm. Singing it is difficult without envisioning it. *purr*. Put this one on when you have a guy or girl over you want to get REAL close with and follow the instructions in the words. Trust me haha.

-Its Your Fault-
I wrote this basically about this ex gf Jes, but later on it held true to a few other people. As much as we like to blame our ex lovers, they really arent responsible for all of our anger and sadness. So this song is basically finalizing the irrational and rational thoughts after a heartbreak. I went for a Clapton meets Metallica sound. The chilling backup vocals were thought up by Joe during a rehearsal and just HAD to be in the actual recording.

-Always Cherish-
This is a very loving and sensual song. Just the chorus itself is a perfect marriage vow. I honestly think this is the kind of song Id sing to my wife at my wedding. It reminds me of Forever that John Stamos sang on Full House to his wife. The string section was a very nice addition, I didnt realize how pretty it was while I was doing it, but later I fell in love. The drum beat is a little different than normal which I felt was a good change, Dave enjoyed it as well. This was the first time I used my Les Paul in the studio, and I felt the clean sound gave it a very Allman Brothers type sound.

-No Trouble Tonite-
This is one of my all time favorite songs. Joe wrote the first half, and I wrote the second half, and it just seemed like it would be perfect to feature a great guitar/piano duel, a vocal duet, and also be short and sweet. In rehearsals it was more light and piano dominate, and after doing the piano/guitar part together some 20 odd times I think I just got pissed and started adding more guitars. The drumbeat I originally did was too weak, and another I did was too sloppy this was very organized but pounding. Joes bassline was a very quick moving train, and our raspy vocals brings out our best rock voices. This is a song I think will live on forever, it has all the major ingredients. You can give it your own meaning, it fits a lot of them...Good luck getting the chorus out of my head.

-Turn My Life Around-
This is a tune Kim Tomosone and I wrote. She sent me the first half of it in an email and said see what you can do. It was a positive song that I wasnt lyrically ready for, so I wrote the music and let it dangle. Then about a month later I was feeling more positive and wise , so I finished it lyrically. I was very proud of it then, so I pushed to start recording it. I started it in a Lonestar tone since Kim is a big fan, but then later on I think I moved it into the Lynyrd Skynyrd realm (which is a little more my taste).
